1969—The JW Peak of Spiritual Enlightenment: Revelation Complete
The preview fulfillment of Revelation as expounded by Fred Franz anonymously in the “Babylon the Great Has Fallen” 1963 book, and the completion in the “Then is Finished the Mystery of God” 1969 book, was the pinnacle of the spiritual progress in prophecy explained by Jehovah’s witnesses.
The “Revelation—Its Grand Climax Has Drawn Near” of 1989, is compiled from the basic understandings of the two previous books. (Revelation 1-3 was added in Christ’s letters to the seven congregations from John; Rev1:1). Everything Fred Franz wrote anonymously after 1969, was just reinforcing prior prophecy understanding.
1969 was the spiritual peak of Jehovah’s witnesses prophetic understanding.
That valid Revelation preview understanding, completed by 1969, is fully accurate and will be very important in the future, because Revelation 8 starts with the coming temple judgment events. (1Pet4:17; Dan8:13-14; Dan11:41) Revelation 8-11 will repeat upon the same pattern [1], but this time enroute to complete 8th King world government which will trigger Christ arrival (Rev11:11-12) and final conquest (Rev11:15-19). Thus along with the GB lack of any true light, is also a bypass of modern prophecy also developing.
Why is this 1969 point in JW spiritual progress significant?
Because by the time the peak 15% growth of Jehovah’s witnesses of 1970 to 1975 started to statistically spiral downward, it also came with the Governing Body (GB) coup of 1976 and the following statistical downward trend now identifiable to the modern record low JW growth rate of today’s 1-3% . It is verifiable in the stats. It is a downward spiral TREND that develops with a lack of any more spiritual enlightenment in prophecy, also in the public record.
All coincidence?
The epicenter of the downward spiral is 1976, the very year the Governing Body took the Bethel dictatorial coup! Thus the “Governing Body” dictatorial development itself is suspect in this development. When they rejected Nathan Knorr and Fred Franz as individual leaders, they got just that: God shut the lights off, and let the GB devolve into what they are today: the final signal apostate leadership body.
That makes what Fred Franz said rather ironic now in hindsight:
“I never had in mind what the Governing Body wants to do now.” “[Fred Franz] went on to say that he had not been in favor of the change then and that from that point forward he had “just been watching” to see what would result.” (Crisis of Conscience, ch. 4)
Well now we know what has resulted!
Thus from that 1969-1976 period forward, NO MORE true prophetic light came forth, and the JW ministry started to contract at the same time—And it is all marked by the Governing Body dictatorial experiment of 1976.
I submit that God began to withdraw the spiritual blessing, the very second the “Korah” GB collective body began to challenge the individual leadership of the anointed Christian ministry and its main model that finished Revelation’s preview understanding “just in time”, and had progressed to 5 years of 10%-15% peak growth between 1970 and 1975.
The point being the JW ministry wheel was not broke!—but peaking in both growth and enlightenment; why GB “fix it” in the first place? There was no good reason!
Thus by 1991, just 15 years later, certain elements within the Governing Body decided to adjoin the JW ministry with the UN NGO, to help promote the 1990 3rd United Nation presentation and its “New World Order” mantra.
“” A few days later, President George Bush of the United States addressed the UN General Assembly. The changes he saw inspired him to say: “Not since 1945 have we seen the real possibility of using the United Nations as it was designed—as a center for international collective security.” He said this because “the United Nations reacted with such historic unity and resolve” to the Persian Gulf crisis. “For the first time, the U.N. Security Council is beginning to work as it was designed to work.” He also said: “The United Nations can help bring about a new day” if its members ‘leave terrible weapons behind.’ By doing this, they can complete the “historic movement towards a new world order and a long era of peace.”””

Now they did that while also never explaining the 3rd UN placement is also a prophecy fulfilled at Daniel 11:30-31, and Daniel 8:23. [2]
Read the rest yourself in that Awake! UN NGO issue, and search “new world order” on the Watchtower Library CD, and you will find over 70 more NWO references between 1991 and 2001.
But you will not find this:
“”The “new world order” proposed by scheming men is the “abomination of desolation” which aims to stand in the holy place of God’s kingdom. Both the prophet Daniel and Christ Jesus foretold it as marking the approach of the FINAL END and therefore the time to make all haste and flee to The Theocratic Government under Christ Jesus. (Daniel 11: 31; 12:11; Matthew 24:15-21) “”
“”That attempted “new world order” which is pushed forward in opposition to and as a substitute for God’s new world under “The King of kings and Lord of lords” is the final expression of the antichrist. Do not look for the antichrist to be an individual man or beast. It is that “new order” organization. The antichrist is here, and its appearance marks the “last time” for this world.”” (The New World; 1942, pg. 126)
Nor will you find Bethel explaining that that 1990 3rd UN presentation is also explicitly prophetic, just like the former two, in 1919 and 1945. (Dan11:30-32a, Dan8:23)
And that is why 1969 was the plateau of JW development, and it has been in fact “downhill” for JWs spiritually ever since 1976.
1999 “Pay Attention” to Daniel’s Prophecy Book
Now for those paying attention, the USSR failed as King North:
(Daniel 11:36) And he will certainly prove successful until [the] denunciation will have come to a finish;
What did not fail, but “proved successful”, was the United Nations progress as exemplified in that post Cold War 3rd UN presentation of 1990, the one Bethel joined as UN NGO, rather than update people the USSR cannot be the real “King North”.
In Fred Franz time it was an error. In Bethel’s time, with all the King North 8th King proof in Daniel 11:27-45 in light of post Cold War UN progress, it is a cover up (Dan8:12b), in lieu of that UN NGO alliance instead.
Thus rather than tell JWs that 1990 3rd UN step to world government must complete in four, as UN 1-2-3-4, Bethel decided instead to totally severe the whole prophetic process from the JW awareness in 1990. [3] That is what has “resulted” from the Governing Body guided so-called leadership.
That 1999 “Pay Attention to Daniel’s Prophecy” book, is just part of this glossing over of that 1990 3rd United Nations presentation in “New World Order” mode, to maintain the now obvious USSR error, to mislead JWs further and further by the Governing Body illegal rogue element.
The reason why the 1969 Revelation spiritual understanding peak is so important, is that it repeats the same Revelation 8-11 pattern en route to complete world government and Christ arrival. See [1];
Why the Temple Judgment is Required Again and First
Thus the simple outline continuing where Fred Franz was cut short at (1992), while Bethel went UN NGO (1991) while COVERING UP the 1990 3rd UN prophecy (Dan11:31b; Dan8:23) as they work for the real “King North” 8th King world government project internally (Dan11:32a; Dan8:12), to effectively derail JWs into delusion, is that Bethel is the signal UN aligned apostasy of modern note. (Dan11:30-35, Dan8:11-13)
Need we more evidence? Well Daniel 11:41 as Daniel8:13-14 temple judgment “trampling” will provide that evidence.
1. Temple Judgment
And that modern Bethel based apostasy (Dan11:32a; 2Thess2:3-4) will ignite a judgment on the JW organization, which will be prophetically timed as Daniel 8:13-14 ignites Daniel 11:41, first. (1Pet4:17)
2. Temple purification
As the 7th King nation-state system takes its initial sovereign financial hit, the JW org visible corporate “trampling” of Daniel 8:13-14 will be in action to form an eventual recovery, in which the Bethel apostasy (permitting Dan11:41) and everything they are now covering up regarding UN 1990, UN NGO, the 7th King downfall (Dan11:42-43), the coming UN abyss plunge and global “sword-stroke” (Rev13), to ascend the 8th King world government eventual “rise” (Rev17:8-12), will become part of:
3. The Final Warning of the “second witness” of the “two witnesses”
And by that time, that final warning will precede full world government full “8th King” finality by 1260 days as Revelation 11:2-3, parallels Revelation 13:5, 12:14 and Daniel 12:7, 7:25 enroute to world government.
4. World Government Triggers Christ’s Arrival
That final warning is ceased in Revelation 11:7-10, climaxing Revelation 13:5-7, as Daniel 12:11 activating the final 1290 days as “the constant feature has been removed”, in which period, Christ arrives, triggered by complete world government “place the disgusting thing”, all in final form. (Rev11:11-12; Matt24:29-31)

And that is what apostate Bethel is concealing, and why they go down first (1Pet4:17), but God will prevent the 8th King “tramplers” from extending out to capture all JWs globally scattered. (Hos1:4-7) The Daniel 8:14 “morning” (Dan8:26) is the recovery just beginning, after the “evening” of the “trampling” desolation of Daniel 8:13 as Daniel 11:41.
That is the “interval” they are now priming JWs for, to “obey and be blessed”, to obey the GB and JW org, “as crazy as it may sound” (WT 11/15/13, pg. 20, par. 17; WT 7/15/15 “Your Deliverance is Getting Near”), to aid the attempted global JW capture campaign, from the UN allied Pied Piper JW org and GB apostates and impostors.
That is when the GB and Bethel apostates will be neutralized, to allow the recovery of the final second witness warning.

World government complete, functional (Dan11:45, Rev17:8-18) and stated (1Thess5:1-3), triggers Christ’s arrival, not before, but AFTER it completes. That takes several more years.
THAT is the simple main point Bethel has been bypassing to sell JWs the “Daniel 11:44 must be next brothers!”.
It will be Daniel 11:41 as Daniel 8:13-14. Bethel started making this modern apostate bypass when they ignored the 1990 3rd United nation global presentation as if meaningless, and advisable to join as UN NGO instead.
